Pediatric Diagnostic Sleep Testing

Polysomnogram (Sleep Study)

An overnight sleep study is the most comprehensive assessment over your child's sleep that is available. A sleep study records your brain waves, heart rate and breathing as you sleep. It also tracks your eye, leg and arm movements, and oxygen levels in your blood. This information will help your doctor make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. Our facility follows the highest standards of pediatric care in accordance with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Multiple Sleep Latency Testing

The multiple sleep latency test or MSLT is a standardized test in accordance with national sleep guidelines to identify signs of excessive daytime sleepiness. It is conducted immediately after an overnight sleep test where the sleep technician will monitor you sleep patterns during 4-5 daytime nap periods. If your doctor recommends this test, there may be additional pre test preparation needed including a standardized sleep schedule leading up to test and weaning or discontinuing of medications that may affect the test results.

Actigraphy utilizes wearable technology in a wrist worn device that will collect data OUTSIDE the sleep lab to better characterize sleep patterns. These devices, like smart watches, utilize movement based trackers in a medical grade method to identify sleep times and disruptions over an extended period.
